The University of Colorado has landed one of the most sought-after football recruits in the country.
Running back Darrell Scott of Ventura, California chose the Buffaloes over Big 12 rival Texas on national signing day today.
Scott led Saint Bonaventure High School to the state championship last fall, rushing for nearly 2,600 yards and scoring 33 touchdowns. He also did some punting, averaging just under 37 yards on 13 kicks.
The Buffs had an inside track in landing Scott. His uncle, Josh Smith, is a sophomore receiver at Colorado.
Scott says family ties played a role in his decision. He also likes the direction that Coach Dan Hawkins has the Buffaloes headed.
