In his first public comments since discovering he had testicular cancer, Nuggets forward Nene (neh-NAY') said he's sorry that his Web site posted a statement saying his tumor was benign when it was actually malignant. He also thanked fans for their support.

The Brazilian took an indefinite leave of absence from the team January 11th and underwent surgery in Denver. Nene says a miscommunication led to his Web site posting a statement that the tumor was benign.

Doctors later said the tumor was cancerous but isolated and that Nene is expected to fully recover.

Nene visited the Nuggets at practice Thursday and spent time with coach George Karl, who is a cancer survivor.

The Nuggets are hoping Nene can return on the court in April.
