Broncos coach Mike Shanahan says it wasn't punter Todd Sauerbrun's run-in with a taxi driver that got him dismissed from the team.
It was the way he treated police officers who cited him with assault over the alleged altercation with the driver.
Shanahan says Sauerbrun was cut this week because of the police account of his encounter with officers.
Efforts to reach Sauerbrun were unsuccessful, and no details were immediately available about Sauerbrun's exchange with arresting officers.
Sauerbrun is scheduled to appear in court January 15.
The Broncos brought in punter Paul Ernster Tuesday to take Sauerbrun's place, then signed kicker Matt Prater Wednesday off the Miami Dolphins' practice squad
