Thursday's game between the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans pits one coach against his father, and another coach against his former boss.
Houston coach Gary Kubiak is a protege of Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, whose son Kyle is Houston's quarterbacks coach.
Kyle Shanahan is in his fourth season as an assistant in the NFL, but Kubiak sees a head-coaching job in the younger Shanahan's future before long.
Kyle turns 28 Friday.
Kubiak says Kyle is a "carbon copy" of his father, but the Houston coach is already quite familiar with his opponent. Kubiak spent 11 years as Denver's offensive coordinator before departing for Texas in 2006.
The Texans and Broncos played each other in a preseason game last season, but Thursday's game will be the first regular-season meeting between the two teams since Kubiak was hired in Houston.
