Rockies Win, Force One Game Playoff

The Colorado Rockies are going to face the San Diego Padres in a one-game playoff Monday to determine the National League wild card winner.

The Rockies forced the issue with a 4-3 win over Western champ Arizona. This will be baseball's first one-game playoff since 1999 when the New York Mets beat Cincinnati. Monday's game will take place in Denver's Coors Field.

The Rockies earned the playoff the hard way, by winning 13 of their last 14 games.

Colorado won the final game of the regular season by scoring three times in the eighth inning and then holding off the Diamondbacks.

There is an error in the article. A few years back the Cubs and Giants had a one game playoff to determine the wild card slot.
