ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- A tender ankle kept Peyton Manning out of practice Wednesday when the Denver Broncos began preparations for the Washington Redskins.
Manning said he'll be back Thursday, however.
This was the first time Manning has missed a practice in Denver.
After stretching with his teammates, Manning donned his helmet but was strictly an observer as backup Brock Osweiler and No. 3 quarterback Zac Dysert took snaps.
Manning took some hard hits from former teammate Robert Mathis in the Broncos' 39-33 loss at Indianapolis on Sunday night but never came out of the game.
Manning and coach John Fox declined to go into specifics about Manning's injury, including which ankle was hurt.
