The only player to ever wear No. 18 for the Denver Broncos wants to make the jersey available again for Peyton Manning.
Maybe that will entice the four-time MVP to the Mile High City.
Frank Tripucka wore that number for three seasons in the 1960s, when he was the first quarterback in club history.
After his tenure, the number was ceremonially retired.
But Tripucka is just fine with breaking it out of storage. The 84-year-old Tripucka said in a phone interview that if Manning wants that number, "He should have it. Let's give it to him."
Well, there's still the tiny matter of signing Manning.
His whirlwind free-agency tour started with Denver, but also has included visits with Arizona, Miami and Tennessee. Manning spent Wednesday meeting with the Titans.
