ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Wednesday signed free-agent defensive back Quentin Jammer, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway announced.
Jammer (6-foot-0, 204 pounds) is a 12th-year player who spent his first 11 NFL seasons with San Diego seeing action in 172 regular-season games (161 starts) and totaling 727 tackles (613 solo), 21 interceptions (210 yds.), 130 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. In eight postseason starts, he owns 29 tackles (27 solo), two interceptions (24 yds.) and 10 passes defensed.
He has opened at least 14 games in each of the last 10 seasons and has started all 16 contests eight times in his career. Since he became a full-time starter in 2003, he has missed just three starts, opening the most games (157) by an NFL cornerback during that time.
Known as a durable and physical defensive back, Jammer ranks fourth among active cornerbacks in tackles (710), according to press box totals.
Jammer was drafted by the Chargers in the first round (5th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft from the University of Texas, where he played safety and capped his collegiate career with unanimous first-team All-America recognition as a senior.
A two-time all-district defensive back at quarterback at Angleton (Texas) High School, Jammer was born on June 19, 1979, in Bay City, Texas.
