ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the National Football League announced on Wednesday.
Moreno rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries (5.4 avg.) in Denver’s 34-17 win at Baltimore on Sunday. His 118 yards were the most by a visiting player against Baltimore since the 2010 season, and his effort represented just the 17th all-time individual 100-yard rushing game by a Ravens visiting opponent.
His performance marked the fourth 100-yard rushing game of his career and his second in as many weeks. Moreno currently ranks fourth in the NFL in scrimmage yards per game (121.8) and fifth in the league in rushing yards per game (97.8) during the last four weeks as Denver’s starting running back.
The award represents the first such honor of Moreno’s four-year career and the second by a Broncos player this season (QB Peyton Manning, Week 6). Overall, Moreno’s honor is the 47th such award for an offensive player in team history since it was initiated by the NFL in 1984.
Denver leads the NFL with seven individual Conference Player of the Week awards this season (two offense, three defense, two special teams).
