Denver Broncos defensive lineman 1st Lt. Ben Garland will be officially sworn-in as a member of the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Dove Valley.
The swearing-in, which will be conducted by Brig. Gen. Trulan A. Eyre, 140th Wing commander, will take place in front of the Paul D. Bowlen Memorial Broncos Centre and will last approximately 10 minutes.
During the ceremony, Garland will swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and, in what is unique to the National Guard, also will swear to support and defend the Constitution of the State of Colorado.
Garland, who was signed by the Broncos as a college free agent in 2010 from the U.S. Air Force Academy, spent the last two years on the club’s military reserve list. He will be assigned to the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard as a public affairs officer.
