Safety Brian Dawkins, a key free-agent addition by the Denver Broncos, will be sidelined for at least several days with an injury suffered during a training camp practice.
Coach Josh McDaniels declined to reveal any specifics Wednesday about the injury.
Dawkins left the practice field Tuesday with a trainer by his side after suffering an apparent hand injury.
When McDaniels was asked again to name the part of the body Dawkins had injured, the coach replied, "It's somewhere above the ground."
Vernon Fox was taking the bulk of the first-team practice repetitions in Dawkins' place.
Before joining Denver, Dawkins was a 7-time Pro Bowl selection in 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
