Another day of surprises at Dove Valley. The Broncos didn't focus on fixing their defensive line in the draft today as many had expected.

Instead, Denver took Notre Dame safety David Bruton, Iowa offensive guard Seth Olsen, South Carolina receiver Kenny McKinley, Fresno State quarterback Tom Brandstater and Texas Christian center Blake Schlueter.

The Broncos also spent the first day of the draft making unconventional picks. They largely bypassed the biggest area of need at linebacker and defensive line, selecting running back Knowshon Moreno of Georgia with their first pick at No. 12. They selected Robert Ayers of Tennessee with the 18th pick, the only defensive lineman they took in 10 picks over the two days.
