The Denver Broncos today named cornerback Domonique Foxworth the team's Walter Payton N-F-L Man of the Year.

Foxworth won for his work honoring slain teammate Darrent Williams by building a memorial teen center at the Boys and Girls Club in the Montbello neighborhood of Denver.

The Broncos will award $10,000 to a charitable cause of Foxworth's choice.

He is also in the running for the league-wide Walter Payton Award, which will be handed out at the Super Bowl.

Williams was killed in a drive-by slaying on New Year's. His slaying remains unsolved.

Champ Bailey, Jay Cutler and John Lynch were the other finalists for the Broncos' award. The team will award $2,000 each to charities of their choice.

John Elway was the only Broncos player ever to win the national award, in 1992.

It was first given in 1970 and was renamed after the Chicago Bears' Hall of Fame running back in 1999.
