School closures in the following communities are being ordered by administrators due to flu absences.

COLORADO SPRINGS: Rocky Mountain Classical Charter Academy in Falcon District 49 will be closing its doors on Thursday due to a flu outbreak at the school. School was already scheduled to be closed on Friday for an in-service day. The students will also be off on Monday since it's a holiday.

School will resume on Tuesday. Staff is supposed to report to work as usual.

MANZANOLA: Flu absences are forcing Manzanola schools to shut down Thursday and Friday, October 8th and 9th. School will reopen Monday, October 12th.

Todd Werner, a superintendent with Manzanola School District, says about 30% of the student body and staff has been out sick with flu symptoms, likely from the H1N1 strain.

The school district plans to disinfect the buildings of the elementary and the Junior/Senior High schools over the weekend.

Manzanola is located about 45 miles east of Pueblo. The district has 175 students.

PUEBLO: School is cancelled at the Cesar Chavez Academy starting Thursday, October 8th, due to absences totaling about 30% of the student body. School will resume Tuesday, October 13th. The cancellation will not affect the Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School, which will remain in session. However, adminstrators will continue closely monitoring the number of students out for influenza like illness.
