The University of Colorado system is cutting 54 administration jobs and trimming top leaders' salaries in a reorganization that is expected to save $6.2 million, or about 15.6 percent of the system's operating budget.
CU President Bruce Benson said Friday that he, CU vice presidents and campus chancellors are taking 5 percent salary cuts, and 54 positions will remain unfilled or be eliminated. Spokesman Ken McConnellogue says the cuts affect 29 people.
CU's campuses in Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver and the Anschutz Medical Campus will announce budget cuts by mid-May.
Benson says his focus is supporting academic and research functions while keeping administrative overhead low.
