Woodland Park School District officials have canceled school on Thursday due to health concerns after a water main break Wednesday.
Utilities crews say a water outage was caused by a 12-inch water main break around 3 a.m. Wednesday near Highway 24. Most customers had water restored by 8:30 a.m. but then concerns arose about the safety of the drinking water.
The State Health and Environment Department says there could be bacteria in the water. The city has since been on a boil water order.
District officials decided to cancel school for Thursday because all of the food for the district is prepared at the high school, they cannot safely prepare the food for the district with the boil water order.
Pikes Peak Community College bus service will still run Thursday.
Highway 24 more than a day after the water main break, around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
