District 11 has announced their cafeteria food is not affected by the peanut butter recall due to the recent Salmonella outbreak.

However, the company that stocks D-11 vending machines is pulling all peanut butter products throughout the district. The district tells 11 News the company told them this is just a precaution, and they have no reason to believe contaminated products were ever in the machines.

The vending machine snacks are provided by a company called EduKit.

District 11 sent out the following news release:

The recent recall of peanut butter and products made with peanut butter from The Peanut Corporation of America’s (PCA) Blakely, Georgia, plant does not affect the peanut butter products utilized in the District 11 School Foodservice program. Currently, the only peanut product being used in D-11 cafeterias is commodity peanut butter purchased from the USDA. A representative from the USDA confirmed with D-11 that this recall does not affect this peanut butter product.
As a precaution, all products containing peanut butter are being pulled from district vending machines, which are managed by EduKit.
