"Qualified and genuine..."? What all the misinformed supporters need to know is that he is accused of doing these exact same things in previous school districts where he was employed. So why did they hire him in the first place?

Mary, Feel free to get rid of the Board and the Administration, but don't think for a second that these people from the top to bottom in this district "just want a paycheck". From the top to the bottom the problem exists that many may care to much. Many very talented people in the District are moving forward with plans that will have D-49 on top of the region before long but unfortunately Schmidt would rather throw great people under the bus than admit that he made a mistake. To have this District on the cusp of greatness in spite of the failed leadership of Schmidt is an accomplishment in itself. I have to admit the most disturbing part of your post was the fact that you think Unionizing will strengthen this District rather than be the final straw. Developing a system that not only hinders accountability, but discourages it. That has worked well for D-11. The biggest problem with this Board is that they care more than their experience may justify.

Our current d49 school board is one of the best we have had in the last 10 years. We have not had 6 Superintendents in 6 years. Hull was fired in 2006. He was there 2 years. We have fired 2 Superintendents in 6 years. Nancy Wright was called in out of retirement to replace Hull and was hired to be short term while they looked for a new Superintendent. Nancy left on good terms, both with the board, teachers and administrators. Don't make it sound worse than it is. I have heard that Smidt was fired from a northern Colorado school district for ignoring that school boards direct instruction to him when he was a principal.
