U.S. News & World Report's annual college rankings list won't be published until Monday, but their website is already listing the top schools in America.

It's the first time Harvard has claimed the distinction in 12 years. It bumped off Princeton, which slips to No. 2, ending eight straight years of at least sharing the top ranking.

Yale follows at No. 3, and MIT and Stanford tie for fourth. The University of California, Berkeley is the highest-ranked public university, at No. 21 overall.

Colorado schools made the "National University" list as well. Colorado University - Boulder is ranked No. 77, The Colorado School of Mines picked up the 80th spot, and the University of Denver finished behind both of those at No. 89. Colorado State University is also ranked, at No. 125.

In a separate list for liberal arts colleges, Amherst moves up one spot to tie Williams, its rival just up the road in Massachusetts, for the top spot. Trailing them at No. 30 is Colorado College of Colorado Springs.

The Air Force Academy was a winner in the rankings. They are ranked No. 1 among baccalaureate colleges in the western U.S. This is their second year in a row to take the honor.

Strange how the colleges with the biggest good ole' boys club and legacy acceptance policies continue to be on top. Just because mom or dad was brilliant does not mean that junior is not dumb as a post.
