Starting last week, Southern Colorado students have been heading back to the classroom and the Colorado Springs Police Department wants to remind drivers to again pay attention in school zones.

Drivers need to be extra careful around crosswalks and in school zones around schools now that classes are in session. If drivers are found speeding in school zones, they face doubled fines and mandatory court dates.

It's also important to remember to stop when school buses are stopped and flashing, even if you are on the other side of the street.

Drivers can barely pay attention in a "cone zone". Or maybe they chose not to?
