Get out your pens and paper, a new school year began Monday for some school districts in Colorado Springs.

Some District 49 students were welcomed back bright and early for the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year. Sixth grade students from Skyview and Horizon middle schools, along with 6th and 7th graders from Falcon Middle School hit the books Monday morning.

Select grades from middle and high schools in the district will begin Tuesday. They will be joined by all remaining D-49 students from both the elementry, middle and high schools beginning Wednesday, August 6.

Other school districts in Colorado Springs will begin on the following dates:
District 20- Thursday, August 14
District 70- Thursday, August 14
District 11- Monday, August 18
District 60- Monday, August 25
