Waldo Canyon Fire Forces More Changes To Mail Delivery

The post office released a new update about mail service for areas impacted by the Waldo Canyon fire.

Below is a release from the U.S. Postal Service:

The Waldo Canyon fire has impacted a number of Post Offices, stations and routes. Today, because of the lifting of restrictions, some areas will see the resumption of full mail delivery service.

NEW: If you live in the Colorado Springs, Cedar Heights area, ZIP 80904, mail pickup has resumed to normal.

NEW: All operations out of the Air Force Academy, 80840, have returned to normal

NEW: If you live in the Kissing Camel area, 80904, mail delivery will resume today.

NEW: The lower Rockrimmon 80919 area has been reopened and carriers will attempt delivery when passable.

NEW: If you receive mail out of North End Station, 80907, mail delivery will resume today.

CONTINUING: If you receive mail out of Rockrimmon Station, 80919/80949, and you are in the mandatory evacuation area, mail will be available for pickup at Templeton Station, 4356 Montebello Dr. Hours are from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., phone (719) 266-6033.

CONTINUING: The Woodland Park Post Office, 80863/80866 and the Green Mountain Falls Post Office 80819 have been relocated to Divide, CO, 66 S. Hybrook Rd. Hours of service are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., phone (719) 687-5187.

CONTINUING: If you live in Cascade, CO, 80809, mail pickup will be at the Colorado Springs, West End Retail Unit, located at 204 S 25th St 80904. Hours are 8:30-5:30, phone 719-473-6513.

Future delivery decisions will be made after consulting with local emergency managers.

Customers who’s homes have been impacted by the fire can file a change of address
Electronic change of addresses can be filed online at http://www.usps.com or by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS. (1-800-275-8777). Change of Address forms are also available at area Post Offices.
Postal officials are advising evacuees to file a change of address even if they are going to be at their current temporary location for a brief time. They will be able to file additional changes as they move to longer term locations.

If you need a safe and secure delivery point, consider renting a Post Office Box, available at all area Post Offices.
