Due to a change in fire activity, all of Mountain Shadows and Peregrine are being evacuated.

The evacuation was expanded north of Chuckwagon around 4:30 p.m.

Previously, police were allowing half-hour escorted visits into the first evacuated half of the neighborhood so that evacuees could gather more things.

Reporter Patrick Nelson got the opportunity to go inside the Mountain Shadows Tuesday morning while residents were still being permitted access to the neighborhood. He says police were at all nine entry points, checking IDs and addresses. They were making certain that the same number of people are entering and exiting the neighborhood.

Patrols were also on the streets, making sure no one is lingering at their homes too long.

It was an eclectic assortment of reasons people are returning to Mountain Shadows. Some are just simply grabbing more items, but one woman told Nelson she was only returning to water her tomato plants. Another woman said she was coming back to get her hermit crab.
