Elbert Fire Remains 600 Acres, 75 Percent Contained

Firefighters lost some ground overnight on a fire in Elbert County, resulting in a loss of some containment. Containment is now 75 percent, down from 90.

The fire, burning west of the town of Elbert, was at one point approaching the town moving along County Road 102, forcing 100 evacuations. All evacuation orders have been lifted.

The fire remains 600 acres, but with heavy winds forecasted for Monday, the Elbert County Sheriff's Office says that number could grow.
