It's going to be all about hand washing and sneezing into the crooks of our elbows. There are some very contagious things going around this week… beginning with respiratory viruses.

They're moving around town. That's according to Dr. Joseph Corrigan with Colorado Springs Health Partners. He's seeing a lot of the virus that causes croup. In our little ones, you'll notice a barky cough and raspy breathing. But in adults, it shows up as a cold or laryngitis. Dr. Corrigan says there's no specific treatment, but humidity, fluids and reassurance can be helpful. And make sure to call your doctor.

Also this week, a warning and recommendation to get your flu shot. That comes from Dr. Steven Reich with Evans Army Hospital on Fort Carson. He wants to remind all of us that flu is not 2 days of vomiting and diarrhea; it's not just a cold. Most kids with flu have high fevers, severe body aches, lots of coughing, and in a very young child, it can be dangerous… not simply unpleasant. Again - that's why doctors say it's best for everyone to get their flu shot.
