We’ve talked about how high the pollen count is right now. It’s affecting a lot of us - including folks who don’t usually suffer from allergies.
But it’s a big concern for kids with asthma. That’s according to Dr. Steven Reich, who sees kids from all over southern Colorado. He’s seeing more kids with asthma lately. And he has some advice for anyone with a child who has asthma. He says now is a great time to refresh your memory on how those asthma medications work, especially if it’s been awhile since your child has had an attack. He says you should make an appointment with your doctor to talk about the use of the medication. Another piece of advice he offers is to make sure chronic asthmatics stay on their controller medications.
As for allergy medications, most are over the counter now and are safe. But Dr. Reich still recommends talking with your doctor before using them.
