It's been weeks now, but it's still an issue. There's a nasty bug going around. It's called gastroenteritis.
We've heard this from several doctors in the area. As we've reported, it's characterized by nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. We hear it can last up to a week and is very contagious. So make sure to force fluids, wash your hands a lot and talk with your doctor about the best course of treatment.
Also, May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. So we wanted to highlight some important tips when it comes to sunscreen. It's your best defense against sunburns... and pretty soon those could be going around.
First off, with so many sunscreens on the market, it can be hard to know which one is best. So here's what you need to know: if the label says sunscreen, sunblock, UVA UVA protection and has an SPF between 30-50 - you're good to go. And dermatologists say generics work just as well as name brands.
Just make sure to reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially if you get sweaty or you're swimming.
And don't forget - sunscreen expires too. If it's been three years or if it's yellow and watery, it's probably not good anymore.
