Pink eye is here! And adults and kids are getting it.
You may already know that it’s contagious. But what you may not realize is that it’s contagious for as long as two weeks after signs and symptoms begin.
So here’s a look at the symptoms going around right now, according to the medical staff with EmergiCare in Colorado Springs.
In your eyes, you may notice redness, itchiness, a gritty feeling or tearing up. You also may experience discharge overnight.
Pink eye can be treated with antibiotics, if it's bacterial. But it also exists in viral form. In that case, it will resolve on its own.
Eyedrops can help, along with flushing of the eyes.
Here's a tip for you adults: if you wear contact lenses, take them out and stop wearing them until you talk to your doctor.
Pink eye can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. So the sooner you get to the doctor, the sooner you can be treated and prevent the spread of it.
