It's official! Influenza is going around Southern Colorado. That's expected for the middle of October. But, of course, this is the very beginning of flu season.
Here's what we're learning from the folks with EmergiCare in Colorado Springs.
All over town, EmergiCare’s medical staff is seeing adults and kids showing up with symptoms like fever, cough, body aches, headaches, fatigue, sore throat, runny nose and even occasionally vomiting and diarrhea.
If you think you might have the flu, it's important to know that you are considered contagious up to 5 to 7 days right after becoming sick.
You'll want to work to treat the fever and get lots of fluids. But the folks at EmergiCare are also treating complications with the flu, like ear infections and sinus infections.
We all know we should be careful when coughing or sneezing. But, did you know - even talking to someone within 6 feet can spread the virus.
It's not too late to protect yourself. You can still get a flu shot. Just talk to your health care provider.
For more information, find EmergiCare on the web, twitter and facebook in the links at the bottom of this article. And be sure to post what you’re seeing in your family in the comment section below!
