It looks like it's going to be a July trend. For the second week this month, strep throat is going around.
But this week, we're getting reports of it from the east part of the Springs and the southwest part as well.
Doctors with Colorado Springs Health Partners are telling us about what they're seeing. Strep throat presents with fever, stomach ache, headache and a rash. There's also pain when swallowing.
Here's what you need to know. Strep will go away on its own. But you may be uncomfortable. Your doctor can prescribe antibiotics. That will shorten the time you're contagious. You may also take Tylenol or Motrin to help with pain and fever. Talk to your doctor about what's best for you.
Also going around this week... a fever in local kids. That comes to us from Dr. Steven Reich with Colorado Springs Health Partners. He says he's seen kids from infants to 7-years-old with fever and no obvious source. But it sticks around for 3-4 days. He tells me he thinks it's a virus. So again, if your child is running a fever and is feeling weak, talk to your doctor.
