If you can’t stop sneezing and blowing your nose, you’re not the only one. Allergies are what’s going around this week. That's the case all over southern Colorado.
David Root with Asthma and Allergy Associates gives us this list of symptoms: runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, itchy skin, asthma and wheezing. He says the first thing you need to do is find out what you're allergic to. You can do that by setting up an appointment for new-patient allergy testing. Just call 473-0872
We're also hearing about allergy symptoms from other medical providers as well. Dr. Michael Halenkamp says he's treating allergic rhinitis. He's with Colorado Springs Health Partners in the Briargate area. Allergic rhinitis is a collection of symptoms that you get when you breathe in something you're allergic to.
Dr. Halenkamp says for mild cases, a nasal wash can be helpful. He also recommends antihistamines and decongestants. But you'll want to talk to your doctor, especially for any specific illnesses that are made worse by allergies, including asthma and eczema.
And now that it is officially summer, don't forget to keep putting on sunscreen. That includes folks who have a dark complexion. You can still burn.
