Often in “What’s Going Around,” we talk about colds, flu, pink eye, etc. It’s lot of what shows up in the doctor's office.

This time, we’ll take a different approach, with a warning to keep you OUT of the doctor's office. That’s because what's going around... r maybe what's zooming around... are ATVs, or all terrain vehicles. Lots of folks are using them to enjoy this nice weather.

But the Consumer Product Safety Commission says at least 40 people died in ATV accidents in April alone. A dozen of those fatalities were children. So here's a look at eight golden rules from the atv safety institute:

1. Always wear a helmet and other protective gear. That helmet is the most important piece of protective gear for safe riding.
2. Never ride on public roads - another vehicle could hit you.
3. Never ride under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
4. Never carry a passenger on a single-rider vehicle.
5. Make sure you ride an a-t-v that's right for your age.
6. Supervise riders younger than 16
7. Ride only on designated trails and at a safe speed.
8. And make sure you take an ATV rider course.
