Hooked - (Stacia Naquin)
Updated: 10/11/2013 - I'm SO CLOSE to being able to do a pull-up. So my trainer introduced something new into my training.
Since the start of 2010, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) has been affecting local kids in every part of southern Colorado.
The good news is the number of cases may be slowing down. That's according to Dr. Steven Reich with Colorado Springs Health Partners in the southwest part of town. But Dr. Reich says the virus is still around, so it's worth repeating the symptoms.
Remember it looks very much like a cold. You'll notice a fever, coughing, a runny nose, a sore throat and an earache in your child. Your child could also have trouble breathing. So keep a close eye on them because, if severe enough, these symptoms could result in hospitalization.
Also going around… asthmatic bronchitis. That's according to Dr. Tom Bartlett with Mountain View Medical Center. He's in the central part of town.
Here's a look at the symptoms: a cough, nasal congestion, sob wheezing and fever. And remember - you don't have to have asthma to get asthamtic bronchitis. But it can move into your lungs. So talk to your doctor. Dr. Bartlett says this usually requires an antibiotic and steroid shot with pills to get rid of it. It can last 5-10 days.
