We're going to see sniffles, fevers and coughs more and more as we get closer to winter... typically known as cold and flu season.

So let's start with more reports of flu-like symptoms. This makes six weeks in a row now that our doctors are reporting symptoms like these in their offices.

Dr. Steven Reich works in the southwest part of town with Colorado Springs Health Partners.
He says his patients come in with fever, cough and aches. And look for that fever to last two-four days. You can take Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen to help the fever and aches and cough syrup can help with that cough.

Also going around this week... the common cold. That's happening in pueblo.

Dr. Madeline Brown with Acute Medical Specialists says that's what's she's seeing. Some of the symptoms are runny nose, sore throat, cough, nasal congestion, a low-grade fever of no more than 100-degrees and fatigue.

Dr. Brown says the cold usually lasts from 3-7 days. Remember - it's a cold. Antibiotics don't work on viruses. So here's what you can do to start feeling better. Dr. Brown says they're just good old-fashioned remedies... like plenty of rest, plenty of fluids, and over-the-counter cough and cold medicines. You can also try a lighter diet of soup and crackers.

To avoid spreading your cold, wash your hands, cover your mouth with your sleeve when you cough of sneeze and stay home from work or school.
