H1N1 might be making all the headlines, but local doctors say they have seen no cases in our area. What they are seeing is something much more common.

Pink eye or conjunctivitis, is usually caused by a viral infection and is accompanied with common cold symptoms.
Pink eye is highly contagious and anyone infected should avoid touching the eye area. Frequent hand-washing is also important.
Most cases won't need antibiotics. But it's good to visit your doctor to make sure it's not a more serious infection.
