Bronchiolitis just has a hold and won't let go of kids in the Springs. We've reported on this illness in various parts of the city, by multiple doctors. And that is the case again this week.
We are getting reports of bronchiolitis in two parts of the city...from two different doctors.
Dr. Steven Reich, with CSHP is seeing it in the southwest part of town. What he's told us is that is seems like a common cold, with stuffiness, a runny nose, mild cough and mild fever. He says it can last a few weeks.
In the Briargate area, Dr. Michael Halenkamp, also with CSHP, says the bronchiolitis cases he's seeing are in kids that are less than 2-3 years old.
Here are the symptoms he's seeing: coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and a fever. And as long as the symptoms don't worsen, he says you need lots of rest, lots of fluids and a humidifier.
Since bronchiolitis is a viral infection, antibiotics won't work. So keep an eye on those symptoms and if they get worse, call your doctor.
