Do you ever feel like everyone in your family has been sick… just passing it around to each other? That may be the case with two health issues this week: asthmatic bronchitis and the flu.
We’ve been talking about asthmatic bronchitis since before Christmas. Remember that you don’t have to have asthma to get it.
Dr. Tom Bartlett with Mountain View Medical Group says folks in the Central part of the Springs are still having troubles. He says it starts with an upper respiratory infection. That includes symptoms like nasal congestion, cough, headache, mild muscle aches and pains and a low-grade fever. Treatment includes inhalers, antibiotics and sometimes steroids.
Also going around this week… more influenza.
Dr. Caroline Rowlands with Colorado Springs Health Partners says that’s what she’s seeing on the Southwest side of town. She says you should look for cold-like symptoms… like a runny nose, sore throat, cough, body aches and high fever. Treatment mostly involves controlling the symptoms.
But as you can see, the symptoms in both of these ailments are similar. So, it’s best to visit your doctor.
