Did you get your flu shot? Even if you did, you still may not be protected from What’s Going Around this week:
Dr. Doug Clark tells us he’s seeing lots of influenza cases in his office. He works on the East side of Colorado Springs with Mountain View Medical Group.
Here’s a look at the symptoms he’s seeing with this particular strain: quick onset of high fever, intense body aches, back pain, dry cough and mild congestion.
Dr. Clark says if you do have the flu, you’re going to need to stay home, get lots of rest and lots of fluids.
You can also see your doctor for Tamiflu or Relenza, which can help you get better more quickly.
Also going around this week… viral gastroenteritis.
That’s according to Dr. Tom Bartlett with Mountain View Medical Group. His office is in central Colorado Springs.
With viral gastroenteritis, you’ll notice fever, abdominal pain, joint pain and muscle pain. Dr. Bartlett says it will last 2-5 days.
He advises you to take Tylenol, anti-diarrhea medication and to take in lots of fluids.
