The Drowsy Chaperone (Don Ward)
Updated: 05/20/2013 - Two weekends left to catch one great show!
More and more folks are having trouble with Bronchiolitis. This is the third week local doctors have reported this to us. They’re seeing it from Briargate to the Southwest part of town. That’s where it’s concentrated now. We’re hearing from two doctors in that area.
The first is Dr. Caroline Rowlands. Here’s what she tells us about it. She says it can cause simple colds or even symptoms as troubling as difficulty breathing. Sometimes it can get to the point of needing a ventilator. Those most at risk are small children and babies, especially preemies.
Dr. Bridget Tewes, with CSHP tells us about the symptoms of Bronchiolitis. She says it affects the small air passages in the lungs. It causes upper respiratory infections in adults… and respiratory distress for kids. You’ll notice difficulty breathing, thick nasal congestion, a fever and harsh cough. Symptoms will get worse over the first 3-4 days, but can last up to 10 days or longer.
Call your doctor anytime you have trouble breathing.
