Asthmatic Bronchitis is going around again.

That’s happening on the North end of the Springs. Dr. Thomas Bartlett with Mountain View Medical Group is seeing it.

He says it starts with a viral upper respiratory infection. That includes symptoms like nasal and chest congestion, cough, fever, ear and throat pain and shortness of breath or wheezing.

Treatment includes oral steroids, antibiotics and cough suppressants.

Dr. Bartlett says Asthmatic Bronchitis can last up to two weeks.

Also going around this week… Strep Throat.

On the Southwest side of town, Dr. Steven Reich with CSHP reports a growing number of cases.

You’ll notice pain in the throat, especially when swallowing. It’s also characterized by fever and white spots in the back of the throat.

Antibiotics are usually needed. But you can also take over-the-counter medicine to help with throat pain and fever.
