Three D-49 Schools On Secured Perimeter Status Wednesday Morning

Three District 49 schools were on secured perimeter status briefly on Wednesday because of sheriff activity in the area.

D-49 confirms Evans International Elementary School, Horizon Middle School and Rocky Mountain Classical Academy were on secured perimeter status from 10:45 a.m.-11:05 a.m. Wednesday.

Secured perimeter status means that the school locks the doors and don't allow anyone in our out of the building, but that otherwise school goes on as normal.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says SWAT was executing a search warrant in the Cimarron Hills area Wednesday morning. They haven't given any further information about what the warrant was concerning.
