Two Springs middle schools went on a modified lockdown Thursday morning after officials became aware of rumors regarding an unspecified threat.
Horizon and Falcon middle schools both went on the modified lockdown around 11 a.m. The lockdown was lifted about 40 minutes later.
A spokesperson with District 49 says El Paso County deputies and school security did a thorough investigation and found no evidence that the rumors were true. However, as a precaution, an El Paso County deputy is remaining at each campus for the remainder of the school day.
For D-49, a modified lockdown means that school operation continue as normal inside the building, but no one is allowed to enter or exit the school.
