Many students in Manitou Springs are getting some brand new technology in the classroom.
Manitou Springs School District 14 says all 5th-8th grade students will be getting an Apple iPad next year. Teachers have been using iPads and by extending this technology to students, the district hopes to take their education to the next level.
Students will be able to take the iPads home with them to use for projects, homework and Web research.
Select high school classes will also be using the device, and all students from 5th-12th grade will be getting iPads in the following year if this pilot year goes well.
The district says learning is no longer restricted to hours in a school day and by having this technology at home, they hope students will be able to expand their learning tools and education.
