A member of the District 49 Board of Education has announced her unexpected resignation.

Joan Johnson

Joan Johnson has resigned from her position on the District 49 Board of Education.

Johnson, who was elected in November of 2011, sent her announcement to the board around 4 p.m. According to board President Tammy Harold, the e-mail did not include any explanation about the decision.

The board will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday to accept the resignation and will be declaring a vacancy at their meeting on April 25.

State law requires the position be filled within 60 days. The appointed director will complete Johnson’s two-year term and can then decide to run for office again in 2013.

“We appreciate Mrs. Johnson’s perspective on the board. It will be missed,” Harold said.

I bet you she will sue saying this whole thing is a racial issue. Watch. I also bet she gets a nice severance pay. Al sharpton needs to speak out. Truth is never important anymore.

Ms. Johnson is aggressive. She is rude to everyone. She has Chief mentality issues. Apple doesn't fall from the tree!

Talk about skeleton's!.I'd bet that most of "The Board" and I know of some staff that have plenty of skeleton's in their cupboard's. This look's like a "Witch Hunt" from the beginning. She is better off out of it.

If you want to find out more about why she resigned you need to ask the school about the numerous reported incidences her 10 grade student was involved in over the months as far as bullying other students, both males and females. Some reports will make you sick. For some reason the school, and only they know why, had a bad habit of making him out to be the poor victim. He had another incident today around 2:00 or 2:30. Funny she resigned an hour and a half later. Really, just ask the school. Ask them about their recent investigation they conducted by hiring an outside investigator. I have alot of information on this. And the public should know what the school was allowing this student to get away with. Totally disgusting. Glad she's gone. I don't think we want her to make decisions for what is suppose to be our student's better interest when her own student is allowed to run around the school as a full time bully.

Sound like she has done the honorable action. While good parents with good intentions do have children that misbehave. It appears to she does not wish to disrespect the district, show any favoritism to board members by resigning. She probably wishes to spend more time with her child over public service. I would make the same decision.

John, this looks like the same E-9 Johnson that bullied people while at Schriever AFB ... how ironic.
