Falcon School District 49 has appointed an interim CEO as a result of the restructuring of the district leadership.
"At a special meeting February 23, the Falcon School District 49 Board of Education appointed Becky Carter to the position of Interim Chief Education Officer. Becky has worked in the District for 28 years and currently serves as the Charter School Liaison. Her previous roles include Executive Director of Elementary Education and elementary school principal and teacher. Becky will serve as interim CEO to coordinate the efforts of the three Innovation Leaders and other departments within the District. In moving forward with the Innovation Initiative, she will help transition the District into the new organizational structure.
“This District has been my home for 30 years, I love this District,” Becky says, “this plan has some really great things and I’m so excited to be a part of it.” She says she is looking forward to moving ahead with the Innovation Initiative and she will begin meeting with Innovation Leaders this week. This position does not require the District to hire any new staff, and her duties as Charter Liaison will be absorbed by other departments. Unlike the Superintendent position, the CEO is singularly focused on education and instructional matters and is not the chief executive of the District.
As part of its Innovation Initiative, Falcon School District 49's Board of Education created the CEO position to provide consistent leadership throughout the Innovation process. “Becky’s experience, loyalty and longstanding positive role in our District make her a perfect fit,” says Board member Tammy Harold, “I have received an overwhelming number of calls and emails in support of her in this position, and it has been wonderful to get that feedback from our community.”"
