Colorado Third-Graders Show Slight Improvement In Reading Scores

Students across Colorado show a 1 percent improvement in standardized reading scores for 2012.

Students across the state showed a slight improvement in reading tests scores, something the Colorado Department of Education credits to parental involvement.

Preliminary results of the yearly third-grade reading tests were released Wednesday, and show a 1 percent improvement in 2012 over 2011. Students statewide tested at 74 percent proficient or advanced.

The third-grade results were reportedly released ahead of the other test scores because those results are considered crucial in determining a child's likelihood of success in school.
