Three people were taken to the hospital following a collision in which a van rear-ended a semi that was hauling fuel. The crash happened just before 9:00 a.m. and the roadway was reopened around 10:40 a.m.

Troopers say that the Chevrolet van and the fuel truck, operated by Groendyke Transport, were both headed southbound. They suspect the van's driver may have fallen asleep before rear-ending the semi about 23 miles south of Pueblo.

The van was badly damaged and leaked fuel on the roadway. Three people from the van were taken to Parkview with unknown injuries.

The semi was not badly damaged and the driver was uninjured.

State Police say the investigation is ongoing.

For one he didn't fall asleep and those are my grandson that were injured in that accident along with their friend. If the Semi was parked on the road. Why didn't he have his emergeny cones out there to let people know he wasn't moving and why didn't he pulled off the road to the shoulder? To avoid an accident.
