After a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash, officers say they used a stun gun to take the suspect into custody.

According to a Pueblo Police Department Report, officers were sent to 1700 Constitution Rd. around 1:04 a.m. Thursday for a reported domestic dispute. When they arrived they saw a vehicle speeding out of the apartment complex, and several officers began to pursue it. Another officer learned it was stolen.

The pursuit continued west on Constitution Road, south on Queens Avenue, and west on E. 21st Street. The Officer who wrote the report veered off at that point to try to set up stop sticks, but never had the chance. The chase ended with an accident in the 1500 block of Constitution Road involving the stolen Hyundai Elantra.

Police say Adrian Pacheco was behind the wheel. He was taken into custody with the use of a stun gun.

An officer brought the victim to the scene of the crash. The victim said he was sure Pacheco was the one who stole the car at gunpoint, even though the suspect was wearing a mask at the time. The victim said he recognized Pacheco’s clothing and body build.

Officers searched the vehicle and found the silver 5-shot revolver with ivory grips that was used in the carjacking. They say it was also the weapon involved in the domestic dispute.

The gun was found under the seat. It was loaded, the hammer was cocked and police found one of the shots had been fired.

As officers continued to investigate, they met person who originally reported hearing the domestic dispute. The witness said he heard the fight and looked out through his window to see a male hitting a female. He also saw the suspect pull out a silver gun and fire a shot into the air.

According to their report, officers were unable to locate the female.

Pacheco was taken to the County Jail for charges of illegally discharging a firearm and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
