44-year-old Jack Medina has not been charged after a shooting and a brief standoff Wednesday in Pueblo.
Police say Medina shot 26-year-old Brent Mede. The initial call came in at 7:15 a.m. after a shooting was reported at home in the area of West 13th Street and Baxter in Pueblo.
According to Medina's girlfriend, the two had been 'having trouble' with Brent Meade. She reportedly maced Meade earlier that day and he returned to the home later and tried to assault Jack Medina, police report.
That's when Medina fired one shot into the ground across the street and went back inside his home. Then, Meade ended up on Medina's property and, according to Medina, tried to enter the home. Medina fired another shot from his porch. That shot struck Meade in the leg.
Medina was found a block away from the home, leading police to believe he may have escaped from the house while officers were at the scene.
Police have turned the case over to the District Attorney.
