After a short police chase, Pueblo County sheriff's deputies have arrested a 15-year-old boy who allegedly broke into a home in Pueblo West.
According to the Sheriff's Department, a 61-year-old woman heard someone breaking into her home in the wee hours of Monday morning and called 911.
When deputies arrived on scene, a home on the 700 block of W. Questa, they saw a silver vehicle speeding away and began chasing after it. After losing sight of the car, deputies tracked down the listed address for the vehicle by looking up the license plate, and were waiting for the car when it arrived at the house.
The teen was arrested as soon as got out of the vehicle. He has been taken to the Pueblo Youth Services on charges of criminal attempt to commit second-degree burglary, criminal mischief, and felony vehicle eluding.
While at the scene, deputies found one window broken in what appeared to be an attempt to enter the home. The total amount of damage to the home is estimated at $1,850.
The case remains under investigation, as deputies say it's highly possible the suspect had an accomplice.
